Remote sensing is important to use to monitor North Korea because North Korea is one of the most isolated countries in the world. North Korea is known to have prison camps and a nuclear weapons program. Prisons camps and a nuclear weapons program are important subjects that the international community would be interested in monitoring. Remote sensing has become a good source of data for these subjects. Remote sensing also has enabled the international community to monitor North Korea’s poor economy and lack of infrastructure. Recently deforestation and the collapsed of North Korea’s environment has become important topics that are being monitoring by remote sensing.
